Veterans Parkway Success

With all of the focus I put on the process of getting a project going, and on all the pitfalls involved along the way, one can forget that the point is to build something. Actual road projects get do completed. Seriously.

The attached picture is from Millington and their Veterans Parkway project. When Darek Baskin, the City Engineer of Millington started sorting through this project about 3 years ago he had a stack of plans and other “stuff” related to the project on his desk. He was fairly new as the City Engineer and had inherited this project, and I was still very new to TDOT. Now, I realize that I was only a very, very small cog in this monster project, but it felt really nice to see that equipment.

About a week ago Darek was kind enough to once again drive me around the project. Congratulations to Darek, and the City of Millington for successfully getting the largest ($25 million plus) TDOT Local Programs Project launched.

About arran375

I work for Askew, Hargraves, Harcourt and Associates, Inc. here in Nashville, Tennessee. The short version of what I do is that we help local governments spend the Federal funds they get from TDOT on road, and bridge projects.
