So said the immortal John Lee Hooker. However, today in the local programs world we salute the rock stars of Millington and Germantown Tennessee. These two communities have raced against the clock to get three major projects obligated for the construction phase before the end of the Federal fiscal year.
In Millington Darek Baskin, the City Engineer, has been run through the ringer on Veterans Parkway South and West. Him and his top flight consultant team have brought home the goods. Everyone in Millington should give Darek a big high 5!
In Germantown Tim Gwaltney and the great Jerry Cook (who really doesn’t want to think how many decades he has been working to bring this project forth) along with their consultant teams are the rock stars for getting Wolf River Blvd to this point. I know that this will be good news for everyone in Germantown!
Both of these communities are lucky to have these folks and their teams working for them. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with and learn from them.
For those that are not familiar with these projects, let me just say that each one by itself is a huge new construction project that has taken years to get to this point. How huge, you ask? Together they total several kabillion (a word I got from my 4 year old son Kyan) dollars in construction that will be bid out and putting people to work very soon. I look forward to driving on them in the not so distant future.
Once again let me salute all the folks who have worked very hard to help get Veterans Pkwy South, Veterans Pkwy West, and Wolf River Blvd. to this major milestone! You are all local programs rock stars!
